A Note From Lynn Prentiss
I began my work in education at The UCAP School 18 years ago as Rob DeBlois’ assistant. That experience is the reason I decided to go back to school for education.
When I left UCAP to continue my education, Rob asked me what I planned to do with my life. I shared that I would someday lead a school like UCAP. It is an honor to be in this position today and I am excited for the 2022/23 school year.
Middle school is a really impressionable, awesome and sometimes tough couple of years for students, especially those who have struggled academically, socially and/or emotionally.
At UCAP we work together with the remarkable students who come through our doors every day. They are bright, strong, kind, ambitious and curious. It is our responsibility to ensure that every one of them is prepared with the necessary skills, habits, attitudes and behaviors that will serve them well beyond our school doors.
Change is inevitable. Doing things differently is necessary if we want to be able to meet the needs of an ever-changing world that expects students to be fluent in the 21st century skills of collaboration, creativity, critical thinking and communication. Together with the dedicated staff, we are working to provide a high quality education, as well as addressing the inequity that faces our youth – those who have been academically left behind.
Rob DeBlois and my previous work at UCAP are the reasons I have dedicated my professional career to working with urban youth. I look forward to working closely with community stakeholders as we continue moving academic achievement forward for the amazing students of The UCAP School.
Most sincerely,
Lynn Prentiss
